Subject: Separating Commercial Activity from CIC Operations
Status: Structural and Governance Update
Executive Summary
On 3 February 2026, MMH’s founder incorporated MMH Clothing Ltd as a separate private limited company.
This established a clearer legal, operational and financial separation between the commercial clothing brand and MMH Men’s Mental Health CIC. The decision was made to help protect the CIC’s resources while allowing the clothing business to invest in advertising, product development and commercial growth independently.
MMH Clothing Ltd now operates the clothing brand and manages the costs and commercial risks associated with selling and marketing its products. MMH CIC remains focused on maintaining and developing its free men’s mental health information and signposting platform.
The Structural Change
- Company: MMH Clothing Ltd
- Company Number: 17009746
- Company Type: Private limited company
- Incorporated: 3 February 2026
- Primary Activity: Online retail
MMH Clothing Ltd and MMH Men’s Mental Health CIC are separate registered organisations. Each maintains its own financial records, operating responsibilities and legal obligations.
Why the Separation Was Necessary
Operating an online clothing brand involves commercial expenditure and risk. This includes paid advertising, ecommerce systems, product development, fulfilment, payment processing, customer service and marketing decisions.
Creating MMH Clothing Ltd means commercial marketing budgets can be managed within the clothing company without using or reducing funds reserved for the operation of MMH CIC.
This separation helps prevent the costs and risks of growing the clothing brand from affecting the maintenance of the CIC’s public signposting infrastructure.
The Funding Relationship
MMH Clothing remains an independent funding partner within the wider MMH ecosystem. Its trading activity can help contribute towards the maintenance, development and visibility of MMH CIC’s signposting work when funds are available.
Financial support is not presented as an automatic transfer of every sale or a fixed donation from every purchase. MMH Clothing Ltd must first meet its own operating, production and marketing costs.
Any financial support provided to MMH CIC is accounted for separately between the two organisations.
Protecting the CIC’s Purpose
MMH CIC’s current funding priority is the maintenance and growth of the free signposting platform at mens-mental-health.co.uk.
This includes:
- hosting and technical infrastructure
- directory development and maintenance
- reviewing and updating public information
- improving accessibility and user navigation
- increasing the visibility of external support options
Previous community contributions remain documented as part of MMH’s public funding record. Further community reinvestment updates will be published when new contributions take place.
Governance and Transparency
The creation of MMH Clothing Ltd provides a clearer distinction between commercial activity and the CIC’s non-clinical public-information role.
MMH CIC does not operate as a clothing retailer, and MMH Clothing Ltd does not provide mental health services. The clothing company operates the commercial brand, while the CIC remains responsible for its awareness, information and signposting work.
